Upon engaging with this material, students will be able to: Distinguish between the core concepts of Disaster, Crisis, and Trauma, identifying their unique characteristics, scope, and interrelationships.

Define and Differentiate between the core concepts of disasters, crises, and trauma, explaining their distinct characteristics, scopes, and how they interrelate.

Analyze the Psychological Impact of traumatic events by identifying common emotional, cognitive, physical, and behavioral reactions in individuals, and describing potential clinical disorders such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Understand Developmental Differences in trauma responses by recognizing how symptoms manifest uniquely across developmental stages, from infancy and early childhood to adolescence.

Apply Support Strategies for helping children after trauma, utilizing practical techniques to re-establish safety, encourage expression, and provide effective psychological first aid.

Identify Problematic Reactions and warning signs that indicate the need for professional mental health intervention, moving beyond typical coping mechanisms to recognize severe or maladaptive trauma responses.
